Position Overview

We are seeking a Web Developer to maintain and improve DEA public-facing websites supporting public information and drug prevention. You will combine hands-on Drupal development with reliable website operations and collaborate with government staff, content specialists, and hosting teams.

  • Key Responsibilities
  • Develop Drupal custom modules, themes, content types, views, templates, and integrations; support Drupal 9 or later environments.
  • Maintain Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP environments and coordinate backups, updates, troubleshooting, and performance improvements with hosting staff.
  • Use Git, testing, and an isolated staging/review environment to deploy approved changes and support rollback.
  • Build responsive, accessible pages; test across browsers and devices and support Section 508 requirements.
  • Support analytics, quarterly website compliance reporting, technical documentation, and accurate task-level time records.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
  • At least three years of database experience encompassing Drupal development, coding, database development, and maintenance; at least two years of web development and two years of full-stack development/programming. Experience may overlap.
  • Strong HTML, CSS/SASS, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, Git, Drush, Apache configuration, MySQL administration, and LAMP planning/management skills.
  • Experience with Drupal multisite, custom modules, theming, Drupal APIs, accessible responsive development, requirements gathering, and performance optimization.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience integrating third-party applications and explaining technical issues to nontechnical stakeholders.

Websites remain reliable, responsive, and accessible.

Approved changes are tested, documented, and released with a clear rollback plan.

Technical issues are resolved promptly and stakeholders understand status and priorities.

Work Environment

This position works primarily onsite at DEA Headquarters in Northern Virginia. Telework may be available under a government-approved plan. DEA will provide the equipment and software needed for contract performance. The final duty station will be confirmed during recruiting.

Physical Demands

Work primarily involves computer-based tasks, reviewing digital materials, and participating in meetings. Essential job functions may be performed with reasonable accommodation.

Expected Hours of Work

Full-time work, generally Monday through Friday during the government-approved work schedule. Specific daily hours will be discussed during recruiting.

Travel

Travel may be required if authorized for contract performance. Any specific travel expectations will be discussed during recruiting.

Employment Conditions

Anticipated start: December 1, 2026, subject to award, funding, government approval, and screening.

U.S. citizenship is required by this federal contract. Applicants selected will be subject to a Government background investigation and must meet eligibility and suitability requirements. Work may begin only after DEA authorizes access following the required Moderate-risk public-trust review or an approved waiver.
