Post Doctoral Associate
Med-Medicine - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (25005705)
A Postdoctoral Associate position is available in the Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases. Seeking a candidate interested in studying the molecular evolution of Staphylococcus aureus stress-response genes to understand bacterial adaptation to the human host during infection. The applicant should have a strong foundation in molecular and microbiological methods and also have experience with protein overexpression and purification methods. The lab has expertise in bacterial WGS and uses it to track bacterial evolution in laboratory-based evolution experiments and within the host. We use a variety of biochemical, cell biological, and microbiological assays. We rely on the genetic manipulation of bacterial genes and bacterial strains (using allelic exchange) to test many hypotheses and collaborate with other labs to test some hypotheses with in vivo infection models. The ideal candidate is one interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying bacterial adaptation during infection.
Degree requirements: Ph.D. in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Infectious Diseases, or related fields.
