A candidate for Santa Barbara City Council is seeking an experienced Social Media Manager to lead the campaign’s digital presence through Election Day. This role owns social media strategy and hands-on execution — content creation, publishing, community engagement, paid social, and analytics — and includes maintaining and updating the campaign website. Prior social media experience on a political campaign is required.
The ideal candidate is a strong storyteller who understands local politics and the Santa Barbara community, can operate independently in a remote environment, and can move quickly when campaign moments demand rapid response. While this position runs through Election Day, there is potential for the right candidate to continue in ongoing social media and digital work in a different industry after the campaign concludes.
This position is fully remote. Santa Barbara area or strong local familiarity preferred.

- Create, schedule, and publish engaging content — copy, graphics, and short-form video — across Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, YouTube, Nextdoor, and other platforms as appropriate for local voters.
- Build and maintain a content calendar coordinated with campaign milestones: forums, endorsements, mailers, canvass launches, ballot drop, and Election Day.

Community & Voter Engagement
- Monitor accounts daily; respond to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely, on-message manner.

Paid Social & Analytics

- Comply with platform political advertising requirements (advertiser verification, disclaimers) and applicable California/FPPC digital ad disclosure rules, in coordination with the campaign’s treasurer or compliance advisor.
- Track performance against goals (reach, engagement, sign-ups, donations); report regularly and recommend improvements.
