About The Role

As an ML/AI Engineer at Remotive, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our platform by building and scaling intelligent systems that deliver measurable business value. In this highly applied role, you will focus on deploying production-grade AI features that enhance how our customers operate, from automating workflows to improving operational decision-making. You will work at the intersection of machine learning, backend systems, and product engineering, creating solutions that optimize order processing, purchasing management, document classification, and workflow automation. This position is ideal for engineers who enjoy owning AI products end-to-end, from experimentation and model development to deployment, monitoring, and iteration in a live environment. Your work will directly impact the efficiency and scalability of our platform, enabling us to expand automation capabilities across the company and deliver innovative features to our users.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates should bring over 4 years of software engineering experience with significant exposure to machine learning or applied AI projects. A strong foundation in backend engineering and experience building scalable, production-ready systems are essential. Hands-on experience shipping ML or large language model (LLM)-powered products into production environments is required, along with proficiency in Python and modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Scikit-learn. Familiarity with LLM APIs and tooling, including OpenAI, Anthropic, LangChain, or LlamaIndex, is highly desirable. Candidates should also have experience working with vector databases, retrieval systems, and AI orchestration frameworks. A solid understanding of API design, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure is necessary to operate effectively in this role. The ideal candidate demonstrates independence, ownership, and the ability to translate ambiguous business problems into technical solutions with strong product intuition. Nice-to-have skills include experience with operational workflows, document intelligence, fine-tuning models, and working within high-growth startup environments.

Responsibilities

Your main responsibilities will include designing, building, and deploying AI-powered features across Remotive’s core workflows to enhance operational efficiency. You will develop and maintain systems leveraging large language models, including agents, retrieval pipelines (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), and workflow automation tools. Building machine learning models for use cases such as classification, forecasting, anomaly detection, and recommendations will be central to your role. You will own the entire lifecycle of ML systems, from data pipeline creation, experimentation, training, and evaluation to deployment and ongoing monitoring in production environments. Collaborating closely with product, operations, and customer teams, you will identify high-impact AI opportunities and translate them into scalable solutions. You will also work on improving the scalability, reliability, and performance of AI infrastructure and inference systems, establishing best practices for prompt engineering, model evaluation, observability, and cost optimization. Partnering with backend engineers, you will integrate AI systems deeply into product workflows, ensuring seamless functionality. Additionally, you will contribute to shaping Remotive’s long-term AI strategy as automation becomes a more significant part of our platform’s evolution.
