Responsibilities & Duties

Monitor each stage of the legislative process of relevant tax and retirement-related policies and budget proposals;
Research policy matters;
Prepare summaries, presentations and reports involving policy projects;
Assist in stakeholder advocacy efforts;
Assist in the preparation and drafting process of stakeholder comment letters to the Treasury Department and Internal Revenue Service in response to interim and final regulations of various tax and retirement topics;
Summarize Congressional hearings and committee markups for clients, and attorneys across the Transactional Tax, Legislative Policy, Privacy, and Employee Benefits Practice Groups;
Assist with trade group meetings to discuss retirement policy;
Synthesize legislation to inform clients and partners;
Monitor tax and retirement-related news;
Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality;
Committed to work outside of normal business hours as needed; and,
Assist with all other needs for project as requested.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree program prior to joining the firm;
Strong writing, communication, and research skills (including social media);
Ability to multitask and work independently;
Ability to work well under pressure and be self-motivated;
Prior congressional experience helpful, but not required;
A two-year commitment is strongly preferred; and,
Candidates must complete a written summary of a congressional hearing during the interview process and should include a cover letter and undergraduate transcripts with submissions.
