The Role

At Matrix Renewables we are looking for a highly motivated individual to play a key role in our Operations and Development teams. The Director of U.S. Asset Management must have a proven expertise with managing all aspects of the operation and maintenance of renewable energy projects.

Reporting to the Global Head of Operations, the candidate will lead in-house and external teams to ensure that U.S. projects perform according to the objectives (both technical and economic) set in the Business plan. The candidate should be able to represent Matrix’s interests within Matrix’s matrixed organization including operations, origination, and development and be responsible for all financial market interfaces including bidding in assets into regional ISOs and managing power purchase agreements as well as local stakeholders, offtake counterparties, suppliers, service providers, vendors and officials at all levels.



Key Activities and Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and coordinate Matrix U.S. Asset Management activities, reporting to Head of Operations.
  2. Design, establish and continuous improvement of asset management processes and according to best practices standard.
  3. Implement methods and tools to improve performance of the energy plants and reducing operational expenses
  4. Lead the reporting activities for operational assets to Matrix Management Team, Board, Stakeholders, and Financing Entities.
  5. Supervision and monitoring of all Matrix O&M activities ensuring the effective supervision and co-ordination of all services to maximize generation revenues.
  6. Monitoring participation in relevant Energy Markets, ensuring compliance with all the utility standards and compliances as well as processes: forecasting, daily offers, guaranties, and communications requirements.
  7. Implement H&S Policy and site H&S Management Plan which complies with H&S laws, regulations, and best industry practice of operating projects.
  8. Implement ESG Company policy in compliance with modern standards, regulations, and best industry practice.
  9. Acquiring and validating all settlement data for Matrix’ projects.
  10. Ensure invoices are validated and internally distributed in time to meet all payment deadlines.
  11. Managing all settlements and related disputes with commercial counterparties, including customers, utilities, RTOs/ISOs and balancing authorities.
  12. Maintain close relationship with equipment providers, O&M Contractors, service suppliers and relevant actors to maintain a Supply Chain strategy to ensure performance of the Assets.
  13. Liaison with Market Department, Finance Department supporting Accounting, Treasury, relations with lenders, etc.
  14. Represent MATRIX in front of relevant stakeholder: authorities, investors, offtakers, lenders and financing entities, and local communities.
  15. Responsible for the P&L and BS of the company projects
  16. Facilitate the relationship with the off takers with full coordination with the Markets department.

General Skills / Attributes:

  1. At least 7 years of relevant experience, ideally with a recordable track record of renewable energy portfolio asset management
  2. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related subject, MBA or relevant masters degree is a plus
  3. Excellent knowledge of renewable energy plants construction, operation and maintenance
  4. Experience with dealing with contracts along with proven ability to liaise with and manage/monitor contractors
  5. Experience with dealing with technical authorities, utilities, Grid operator, offtakers.
  6. Solid communication skills: capability to establish technical discussions in different cultural environments
  7. Experience with asset trading and optimization including rules and procedures for bidding in assets into day ahead and secondary markets particularly in CAISO and ERCOT. Experience with MISO also a plus.
