Reporting to the Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications, the Assistant Director contributes writing and editorial support to the department’s institutional storytelling. The Assistant Director partners closely with the Admission team and Summer Programs leadership to plan, write and deploy email campaigns, print materials and digital content that build Peddie’s pipeline of prospective students and increase the volume and quality of inquiries, applicants and yield.
This role is suited to someone who is equally comfortable as a strong writer, a disciplined project manager and a relationship-builder across campus.

Core Responsibilities
Enrollment Marketing
- Partner with the Admission team to plan marketing communications aligned to each stage of the funnel (inquiry, visit, application and yield) across email, website, video, social media, digital advertising and third-party profiles.
- Strategically plan and write admission marketing emails throughout the admission cycle.
- Write and coordinate production of admission marketing, partnering with the Associate Director of Brand and Web Strategy on design, the Senior Manager of Videography and Photography for visual assets and Communications Associate on social media
- Support inquiry-generation efforts, including targeted digital advertising and admission-facing web content, in coordination with the Associate Director of Brand and Web Strategy.
Summer Programs
- Plan, write and produce marketing emails and materials for Peddie Summer Academy and Peddie Summer School, in coordination with program leadership.
- Treat Peddie Summer Academy as an early touchpoint in the Peddie's broader enrollment pipeline, shaping messaging that introduces prospective students and families to the Peddie experience
Team and Cross-Campus Collaboration
- Contribute writing and editing support to the department's broader storytelling needs, including website stories, blog content and the Peddie Chronicle.
- Serve as a responsive, relationship-driven partner to Admission and Summer Programs colleagues, anticipating needs and building trust.
- Bring a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach to a fast-moving department.
Qualifications
Required
- 5-10 years of experience in communications, marketing or a related role (independent school experience a plus).
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with command or grammar and style.
- Demonstrated experience planning and executing email marketing campaigns (e.g., Slate, Constant Contact or similar platforms).
- Comfortable working with CRM/enrollment systems (e.g., Slate) and basic web analytics.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a highly collaborative approach.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
- Demonstrated experience in admission marketing, ideally supporting enrollment goals in an independent school or higher education setting.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, English or a related field.
- Familiarity with WordPress (or a similar CMS), Slate or Constant Contact, and Adobe Creative Suite or Canva for light design work.
- Experience writing for an independent school audience.
Salary Range
$60,000 - $70,000
